Demand for apostille services has tripled in Moldova

According to representatives of the Moldovan authorities, the growth in demand is due to the decision of the official Bucharest to accept only documents certified by the apostille stamp during the procedure for restoring Romanian citizenship. Those who wish to undergo the apostille procedure line up in huge queues.

In connection with the current situation, the leadership of the Ministry of Justice of Moldova decided to temporarily double the staff of the Apostille Office. In addition, the certification procedure itself has been revised. From December 8, 2021, citizens of Moldova can use the pre-registration procedure by e-mail when submitting documents.

At the same time, the traditional procedure is also preserved, allowing the submission of documents for the apostille of Moldova to the Ministry of Justice in person without an appointment. At the same time, those who sign up for apostillization in advance will not be able to submit more documents for certification than it was indicated in the application.

Moldova is a party to the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961, which introduced a procedure for legalizing documents according to a simplified procedure by affixing an apostille stamp. Moldova joined the Convention on June 19, 2006, and on March 16, 2007, the Convention entered into force on its territory.
