The "Companies Registry of the Registrar of Companies" is responsible for registration in the commercial register. The "Companies Registry" is directly subordinate to the "Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice". All relevant documents for the registration are submitted to one of the Huduma Centres, special citizen service centres that provide National Government Services.

The "Office of the Attorney General" was founded in 2013 and renamed to "State Law Office" in 2016, however the previous name is still being used.

  • Certificate of Good Standing – a document attesting that the company is capable of acting and solvent. It confirms the company pursues their commitments and is neither bankrupt nor in debt. Furthermore there is no reorganisation, merger or liquidation taking place.
  • Memorandum of Association

Search in the register is not free of charge. Search results are sent to you within 5-7 days after request submission.

Kenya did not accede to The Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents in 1966. Therefore, all kenyan documents are subject to legalization.
