On August 23, 2017, the Ministry of Commerce of the Russian Federation announced on its website the introduction of a compulsory certification for water, gas, electricity and heat meters in accordance with GOST standards. The government of the Russian Federation is currently discussing the proposal.
The ministry regards the introduction of the GOST certification as necessary due to the increased movement of faked meters on the Russian market.
The list of products requiring certification will be extended with three articles:
- 4213 Water and gas meters
- 4218 Heat meters
- 4228 Electricity meters
The changes will come into force on September 1, 2018.
Until 2010 water and gas meter had to be declared according to GOST R. To get the declaration, the devices had to be tested by accredited laboratories. The same applies to heat meters. The last time, a GOST certification was intended for electricity meters was 2013.
