The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines has changed the building in which the processing and issuance of documents subject to apostille is carried out . This event followed a crisis in which applicants queued under the consular office and set up camp nearby.
Apostilling at the Philippines Ministry of Foreign Affairs building at Aseana Business Park officially ended on April 11, 2022. Currently, it is possible to submit the documents for an apostille at DoubleDragon Plaza in the territory of Pasay, which is part of the Metro Manila Capital Region.
The apostille is done by appointment. A receipt issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an identity card, a power of attorney and a copy of the document in the case of legalization for third parties are required to carry out an apostille.
In March this year, the State Department's work was blocked by hundreds of Filipinos trying to have their documents apostilled for later employment abroad. The officials had to take care of the accommodation of the applicants and their meals. According to media reports, the crisis could be due to the unfair treatment of several companies involved in international employment, who advised their clients to contact the State Department without prior consultation.
