Republic of Paraguay is a sovereign state in South America. This is a landlocked country bordered by Brazil, Argentina, and Bolivia. Head of state is a president. Local currency is the Paraguayan guaraní. Official languages are Spanish and Guarani. Paraguay is the member of the United Nations, Organisation of American States, International Monetary Fund, MERCOSUR, UNASUR, and the Rio Group.
Paraguay is one of the poorest countries of the region, with more than 30% of population below the poverty line. Paraguay has a market economy that is mainly dependent on agriculture and exports of agricultural products. Local economy is impeded by the years of political instability, as well as lack of mineral resources and high Gini coefficient. More than 60% of work force are employed in the services sector.
Paraguay is not an offshore zone. The GDP has been growing steadily in the recent years, as well as investments. Some experts believe Paraguay might become a successful business centre in the future.
Business activities here are regulated by the 1987 Civil Code and other relevant laws.

Commercial register of Paraguay is managed by the Directorate General of Public Records, an autonomous department of the Supreme Court. The Directorate also keeps records of land, real estate, civil acts, bankruptcies, etc.
Since 2006 it has been possible to register a company via the “single-window system” (Sistema Unificado de Apertura de Empresas – SUAE) of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. SUAE submits information about registered companies to the register of Directorate.
In its current state the register has existed since 1981.
