The UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (Companies House) has implemented the GOV.UK One Login access technology for certain services of its digital platform. The Trade Register has become the last of the forty UK government services to use this electronic tool, Public Technology reports, citing Peter Kyle, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology.
There is no separate link to Companies House services on the UK government portal for the One Login system itself. The Trade Register website itself has a notice about "technical work".
Public Technology clarifies that One Login will primarily be used to support services provided by Companies House in accordance with the requirements of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, which came into force last year.
Peter Kyle said the new One Login government-wide access system would be rolled out to all other online services offered by Companies House in due course.
Schmidt & Schmidt previously reported that GOV.UK One Login will allow users to access Companies House services and a number of other government services using just one account, one username and one password. According to the registry, this will relieve applicants from having to provide information about themselves again. The new format will be implemented in several stages. First, Companies House will test it with a small group of users, and then they will conduct public testing of GOV.UK One Login. After testing, the new access scheme will become mandatory for everyone.
