The National Council of Justice and the Notarial College of Brazil have started providing the service of electronic apostille of documents. It will allow online (via e-mail or instant messengers on a smartphone) to receive copies of official documents in PDF format, which will be marked with a QR code confirming their authenticity.
The platform through which you can get the service is called e-Apostil. It has been under development since 2021.
It will be possible to receive an apostille service as part of a separate order in Brazil in only one of the formats: either in “paper” or in electronic form. If the customer needs to certify documents in both at the same time, then he will have to apply for the service twice.
According to experts, the introduction of electronic apostille in Brazil will have a positive impact on the security of document management. The fact that it will be possible to verify documents for authenticity online will deal a blow to attempts to falsify them.
Member of the Supreme Court of Brazil Maria Teresa de Assis Moura noted that electronic apostille will make the process of certification of documents more rational and easier.
