The international express delivery company DHL has temporarily suspended its services in several Middle Eastern countries. The company has notified its clients about this decision.
Why DHL suspended deliveries to the Middle East
DHL has completely halted the shipment of cargo and documents both to and from Israel. This measure has been taken due to heightened security concerns, as several Middle Eastern countries have imposed restrictions on the use of their airspace.
The suspension will remain in effect until the flight bans are lifted. DHL representatives are closely monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with the relevant authorities. The company is also exploring alternative delivery routes.
Additionally, the closure of airspace in the region is causing delivery disruptions in Lebanon, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq. Transportation links to Beirut, Amman, Baghdad, and Erbil have been suspended until at least June 22, 2025. Flights to Kuwait and Cairo are currently operating during daytime hours only. DHL is working on resolving the logistics challenges in the region.
If you require services such as apostille, consular legalization, document retrieval, or obtaining official extracts from Middle Eastern countries, please take the ongoing geopolitical situation into account. These services may be delayed for an indefinite period.
Document legalization at Israeli diplomatic missions
Schmidt & Schmidt previously reported that Israel has temporarily closed its diplomatic missions and suspended consular services, including document legalization.
The announcement was made on June 13, 2025, following the escalation of the military conflict between Israel and Iran. According to media reports, the decision was driven by concerns over potential attacks or threats against diplomatic personnel.
All Israeli diplomatic missions have been closed, which means that consular services, including document legalization, have been suspended worldwide. This suspension is currently indefinite, though notices have been posted through June 30.
International media note that this decision will cause significant difficulties for thousands of people — both Israeli citizens and foreign nationals — who need to use foreign-issued documents in Israel.
It is also possible that other countries may decide to restrict the operations of their diplomatic missions in the near future, depending on how the conflict evolves.
