Autonomous non-profit organization "Russian Quality System" (Roskachestvo) examined the underpants of 20 brands of lingerie. Infringements were found in half of the brands examined. Deviations from the technical regulations TR CU 017/2011 On safety of light industry products with regard to hygroscopicity and air permeability were found. In addition, a 10-fold excess of the substance styrene was found in underpants of a brand made in China.
Experts reviewed the products of folding brands: Vis-a-vis, Palmetta, Women'secret, Comazo, Uniqlo, Incanto, H&M, Wild Orchid, Defile, Victoria's Secret, Belle YOU, Oysho, Intimissimi, Deseo, Innamore, Milavitsa, Tezenis , Triumph, Kiabi and Calvin Klein. According to the research, half of the products do not meet the prescribed requirements. Basically, violations of the following brands have been found for the following indicators of brands, noted Roskachestvo:
- exceeding the content of the toxin styrene: Incanto (almost ten times)
- inferior coloring: Deseo, Milavitsa, Belle YOU, Women’secret (color is not sweat-resistant)
- problems with hygroscopicity (the ability of a material to absorb and store moisture): Wild Orchid, Incanto, Kiabi, Deseo, Innamore, Milavitsa, Women’secret, Tezenis and Oysho
- low air permeability: Women'secret
Roskachestvo announced that it is obligatory to stop selling such products.
No violations were found for the underpants of the brands Palmetta, Comazo, Defile, Victoria's Secret, Intimissimi, Calvin Klein, Uniqlo, Triumph and H&M.
Problems can be caused by the methods used by laboratories that test underwear. Some laboratories carry out tests to assess the hygroscopicity of various fabrics (e.g. lace, cotton gusset, base fabric). As a rule, only a cotton gusset complies with the technical regulations with regard to hygroscopicity. After examining the documents made available by the manufacturers by the certification bodies, it turned out that some EAC certificates were issued by certification bodies that had already ceased their activities. In this case, it is necessary to control the performance of the inspection control on such products.
