In early October 2021, the Luxembourg business registries issued a public notice, which contains information on the upcoming changes, effective from the end of the first quarter of 2022.
The system for filing applications with the Luxembourg Trade and Companies Registry will change. Application forms in the current PDF format will soon be replaced by forms that will be completed directly online in HTML format.
This technological innovation will entail the obligation for users registered with RCS Luxembourg to provide the Luxembourg National Personal Identification Number.
If the individual to be registered with the Registry does not have a Luxembourg national identification number, then the authorized body (LBR) will issue such a number when accepting the registration application with RCS.
The applicant will be required to provide the following information in the application to obtain an identification number:
- Citizenship
- Sex
- Residency
This information will not be registered in the Trade Register, but will be transferred to the National Register of Individuals.
Also, the Luxembourg addresses submitted to the Register of Trade and Companies will be checked for compliance with the information contained in the National Register of Towns and Streets. In the event of a discrepancy, an error message will be displayed in the form so that the applicant can check the information provided and correct it.
Luxembourg business registries draw attention to the fact that addresses that do not match the information specified in the National Register of Cities and Streets cannot be entered in the Trade Register. The consolidated check will also verify that the address to be entered in the RCS matches the address shown on the document accompanying the application.
