Rosstandart approved the new GOST 18908.-2019 for cut flowers. This Standard describes the technical conditions for cut flowers such as roses, chrysanthemums, Shabo carnations, tulips and gerberas.
The latest version of GOST for cut flowers was updated in 1973, that is, more than 40 years ago. Since the technology of cultivation, storage and transportation of flowers has changed significantly in recent years, it is necessary to modify existing regulations.
The new standard refers to retail and wholesale trade. It estimates the quality parameters of cut flowers such as appearance, flower condition, stem length, parasites, chemical damages, etc.
Updated GOST has high demands on the storage, packaging and transportation of flowers. The new document contains the requirements for packaging and transportation, as well as temperature parameters.
This standard will come into force in Russia and the EAEU countries (except Kazakhstan) in 2020.
