Ecuador Prepares to Launch Electronic Apostille for Documents

The Ecuadorian authorities have announced that they are starting to carry out apostille and consular legalization procedures for documents digitally. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of the Republic is handling this issue. The department has distributed the corresponding statement in the media .

You can pay the fee for digital legalization of documents with a debit or credit card. The apostilled document will be sent to your email.

The Ecuadorian authorities emphasize that electronic apostille will be effective and reliable. The authenticity of the digital stamp can be verified using a special QR code. The fee payment system is positioned by them as completely safe. To receive the service, the user will need to create a personal account on a special platform, enter the necessary data and upload the document itself in electronic form.

This must be a document issued by official Ecuadorian structures, signed with a secure electronic signature and pre-verified by authorized bodies. "Paper" documents can only be certified in the "zonal offices" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The fee for apostille will be 30 US dollars, and for consular legalization - 25 dollars. There is a system of discounts for socially vulnerable groups of the population.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador has also begun issuing electronic visas for visiting the republic.

So far, Internet users have complained that technical difficulties have arisen with the operation of the electronic services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As of July 25, 2024, the government resources of Ecuador offer users only "paper" apostille through the zonal offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Humanity of Mobility.
