The Register is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Land and Documentation of Egypt. The Cadaster is maintained by the General Geodesy Department.

Extract from the register may be in a paper, and from cadasters - both in a paper and electronic form.

Extracts from the register and cadaster of Egypt may be used for:

• confirmation of title to real estate
• receipt of information about the real estate item
• debt collection
• analysis of prices for real estate
• other commercial and analytical purposes

Information about the possibility of obtaining an extract and the time for processing the request shall be specified individually.

Extracts from the Real Estate Register are provided subject to the laws of Egypt and to the Law on personal data protection.

Legalization of extracts from Egypt

Egypt is not party to the Hague Convention cancelling requirements of diplomatic or consular legalization of foreign official documents. Thus, the apostilling procedure is not applied in Egypt. Documents compiled by authorities or with participation of Egyptian authorities and designed for use abroad shall be legalized in a consulate institution.
