The Register of Land Information is a governmental agency of New Zealand. The register is headed by the official of a ministerial rank.
The Register was established in 1996.
The Register serves three main functions:
- manages the system of transactions with real estate

Persons not being authorized specialists may request information about real estate by an application sent by E-mail. Its processing may take up to 20 days. Information about real estate is public, however documents from the register are received for a fee.

Apostilled extracts from New Zealand
New Zealand joined the Hague Convention on simplified legalization of documents on February 7, 2001. On November 22, 2001 the Convention came into force.
Thus, documents issued in New Zealand are subject to legalization based on the apostilling procedure, after certified translation such documents acquire full legal force on the territory of all other Hague Convention Member States.
