On the 4th of February 2020 began a public discussion on the draft amendments to the List of Standards for Test Methods Regarding Food Additives to ensure compliance with TR CU 029/2013 On safety of food additives, flavor enhancer and processing aids.
Changes are planned for the list, which was approved by the decision of the Board of Directors of EEU No. 21 of February 7, 2018. The problem of expanding the use of two measurement methods was addressed. This will take until January 1, 2020 to be included in the list of intergovernmental standards, instead of being restricted. Research can be fully carried out using the existing methods described in the documents.
It is about testing food additives for:
- Determination of the concentrations of sorbic and benzoic acid in food by high performance liquid chromatography;
- Determination of B-carotene in special foods.
The document will be publicly discussed on the 24th of February 2020. The changes in the directory will not take effect until 30 calendar days after the official publication of the decision.
The lists of standards used in conjunction with technical regulations are updated regularly to meet the necessary requirements for product safety, including research.
