On December 17, 2021, there was a public discussion about the changes to the technical regulations TR CU 008/2011 “On safety of toys“ started. The Technical Regulation set minimum requirements for the safety of products during the EAC Certification, EAC Declaration or state registration.
The changes are introduced with the aim of clarifying and specifying some provisions of the technical regulation. The changes suggest the following measures:
- Objects that are subject to other technical regulations (e.g. skateboards, scooters that relate to sports equipment; game consoles and PCs; interactive software; fireworks, pistons; kits for the cultivation of living beings and plants) are excluded from this technical regulation
- Article 2 “Definitions” is supplemented with definitions such as flavored toys, flying toys, a set for developing taste, etc.
- Certain security requirements are explained in the new edition
This updates the requirements for materials, decorative and protective coatings for toys, physical and mechanical properties, construction, board games, chemical and electrical toys, magnetic properties, packaging and labeling of toys. For example, when labeling board games and cosmetic sets to develop the sense of smell, the provisions of TR CU 009/2011 “On the safety of perfume and cosmetic products” must be taken into account. The labeling should contain the trade name of the toy (if any), taste (if any) and information about the toy that will enable it to be identified (item, model, etc.).
- Some provisions of Annex No. 2 with the requirements of hygienic safety are clarified
- Annex No. 3 with the requirements for information on dangers and measures taken when using toys that represent the greatest risk according to TR CU 008/2011 is presented in a new edition
The discussion is expected to last 70 days until February 25, 2022.
