The Italian commercial register (Registro delle Imprese) is run by the Chambers of Commerce, and managed in the electronic form by InfoCamere – a consortium of ICT that unites 105 Chambers and 300 of their branches throughout Italy. The administration of the Register is supervised by judges and the Ministry of Economic Development.
The Italian business register was created in 1993 and is available in an electronic form.

Italian registry of Beneficial owners
In Italy, a committee was established in 2015 to develop recommendations for the implementation of the Fourth EU Directive. Since July 4, 2017, a Legislative Decree (Decreto Legislativo n. 90/2017) has been in force in Italy, which implements the provisions of the Directive into Italian law.
According to this legislative act, legal entities must send information about their beneficial owners to the Italian Commercial Register, where it will be stored in the appropriate section. In addition to the State bodies established by law, private individuals can also have access to this information, provided that a payment is made. However, the law restricts the grounds on which this information can be provided to individuals. These include the need for the specified information for the organization of the defense in the framework of the trial and the presence of specific and documented reasons to doubt that the legal owner coincides with the actual one.
Apostille for extracts from Italy
Italy acceded to the The Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents on 13 December 1977.
Therefore, the documents issued in Italy are subject to a simplified apostilling procedure, thus the documents gain full legal value in Convention member states after certified translation.
